  1. 1.  Make a quick timeline for when you’ll clean the room to make your baby’s nursery. It’s advisable that you do this in the early stages of your pregnancy. Set a deadline for completing this in a day or two and do not keep this for later.

  2. 2.  Use the Three-Box Method- The three-box method is a simple sorting system where you begin the project with three storage bins or boxes. In case you are getting rid of bigger items like heavy furniture then set aside a larger area. At first, label the bins, boxes and areas as ‘Keep,’ ‘Dispose Of’ and ‘Store’ with a marker and masking tape. Then organize your possessions according to each category to make life simpler.

  3. 3.  Once the items are marked and cleared off, clean each room thoroughly. Ensure that you use cleaning products that are gentle and natural as the harsh chemicals in some household cleaners may be harmful for baby.

How to get ready for a baby

The first thing that you have to do when you make room for baby is decide where you’ll have a room for the nursery. If you have a spare room in the house which could be used as one, think about which items you’ll be placing in that room and how much space they’ll occupy. Keep in mind that the nursery room has to also be in close proximity to your room, especially if your little one has trouble sleeping through the night.

In the event that you do not have a spare room to convert into a nursery or do not want to have a nursery separately or you have to make room for baby in a small house or a one-room apartment, you have to set up space for baby in your bedroom where the nursery has to be recreated. When you do this, ensure that you follow the best hygiene and safety practices by keeping your baby’s crib away from the windows, electrical cords and heavy shelving units or wall decorations. Another important thing to do is determine how much space your baby’s furniture will take up. This will help you plan better in terms of storage space.

How to organize room for baby is important and organizing baby room with a limited space is a challenge. Even if you decide to have a dedicated nursery room, you must still make space for the baby’s crib in your own room. It is recommended that babies share a bedroom with parents for at least the first six months for safety reasons.

Storage solution essentials have to be purchased like baskets, bins and containers to store baby clothes, toys and other baby essentials. Look for what is already there to be used before purchasing new stuff. As long as it is clean and sturdy, there’s no harm in using old stuff. It is recommended to buy shelving units and installing them at different heights on the wall. The vertical space on your wall is a good idea to do this. This will help you to stack and organize toys and supplies out of the reach of your baby, especially those that could be choking hazards.
